LUS Fiber Helping Economy

More Small Businesses coming to Lafayette because of Fiber

The Lafayette Utilities System Fiber is helping out Lafayette in more ways than one.  Not only is it speedier and more efficient, president of LUS Terry Huval says it is also boosting Lafayette's economy.

"What this is doing for us from an economic development perspective is huge cause, you know, every city wants to say they have something special to lure another company in town, but very few cities can say that they have what we have."--Terry Huval

Huval says what sets us apart is that Lafayette Utilities has it's own city-owned, robust city infrastructure.  It can provide telecommunication services like cable-TV, telephone, and internet.  The differentiating factor that really sets the bar high is the internet.

It is bringing in new businesses.  Huval says that he is hearing from more and more people saying they decided to come to Lafayette and start their business because of the fiber.  Bringing in more businesses is ultimately helping our community and ensuring that children who grow up here can get a job here.
