The Louisiana Department Of Transportation And Development is facing more budget cuts tonight.
On the agenda were discussions of slicing the budget by 40 million dollars.
Doing this would mean 170 fewer positions in 2013.
The DOTD is still continuing with a variety of construction projects but we're told the 40 million in cuts could force officals to prioritize all that roadwork.
"there's a process we start back in around august time frame where we have an idea about how much revenue we're going to have. we look at what their actuals have been in the year previously. they come with how much more they need and then we try to be as equitable as possible"
Louisiana's budget is more than 900 million dollars in the red.
Never-the-less the appropriations committee is working to get a balanced budget for the state for the fiscal year that starts in July.
