Two Arrested for Shooting Cab Driver
19-year-old Aaron Francois and 19-year-Kevin Gildhouse are behind bars in Lafayette Parish for allegedly shooting and killing a Lafayette cab driver in the 800 block of Fox Run last week.
"Both admitted to being participants to the crime, and they are being booked on first degree murder and armed robbery charges," Lafayette Sheriff spokesman Craig Stansbury said Monday.
Detectives say the two men called a cab to pick them up from this Wal-mart on Pinhook Road last Monday night-with plans to rob driver.
"They got in to the cab we believe that’s where the armed robbery they apparently had the driver drive to the 800 block of Fox Run and he was unfortunately shot at that point, " Stansbury said.
A nearby resident heard the gunshot and found the driver , 33-year-old Wallace Badeaux dead inside his cab and they called 911. Police were able to use this picture taken by a Wal-Mart security camera to identify the individuals and arrest them, along with 18-year-old Margeret Sanchez, at a home in the 400 block of Dulles Drive Monday morning.
"She knew about the information. She was a small participant and she also knew about the crime after the fact and she was attempting in some ways to give them an alibi," Stansbury said.
Sanchez has been charged with accessory after the fact. Detectives say both men are blaming the other for the actual shooting at this time.
Both remain behind bars and no bond has been set.
