The UL softball team is looking for some offense heading into this weekend's tournament
Nicholls State, Lipscomb University, McNeese State, Providence and Louisiana Tech will all joing UL this weekend at Lamson Park for the 23rd Annual Louisiana Classic. For the Cajuns, it's a chance to get back on the field after dropping two games on opening weekend to Ole Miss. This afternoon, the Cajuns Softball team braved the heat and tried to warm up their bats. UL scored just nine runs in three games last week, but co-head coach Stefni Lotief says...don't worry.
CAJUNS CO-HEAD COACH
“It’s early in the season. We’re going to continue to make adjustments and you know, fight, fight all the way along as we try to get a good lineup together until we feel comfortable that we can produce some runs.”
“Opening weekend against Ole Miss the Cajuns pitching was superb. The hitting, not exactly where co-head coach Stefni Lotief probably would have liked it to have been. But, the Cajuns got back out here at practice today trying to work on scoring more runs.”
SBC PITCHER OF THE WEEK
“Coach Mike has gotten the hitters out here from, you know, real early in the day and they stay here until you can’t seen any more…and then they turn the lights on!”
“This is what we’ve been working for. Any weekend isn’t different. You know, it’s the next pitch and we’re all excited to go compete for the next pitch.”
The next pitch for UL flies Friday night at 5:30 against Tennessee's Lipscomb University. In all, the Cajuns take the field five times this weekend during the Louisiana Classics Tournament...and they hope to touch the plate all weekend long.
