LOUISIANA — Governor Bobby Jindal has issued a state of emergency for tropical storm Ida.

Captial city residents saw the effects of hurricane Gustav last year and now are getting ready for Ida.

Officials say they have a checklist ready just in case Ida does hit Louisiana.

Some say they have tested their generators and bought an extra set of batteries.

However, some citizens are not concerned.

Authorities say the storm could make landfall as early as Tuesday.

Today the national weather service downgraded Ida to a tropical storm.
