New Orleans cuts a deal with the Thunder and sends Tyson Chandler packing
The next time Chris Paul passes the ball to Tyson Chandler, you’ll have to put a tally in the turnover column, because Chandler is no longer a Hornet.
The New Orleans Hornets have dealt Chandler to the Oklahoma City Thunder for Joe Smith and Chris Wilcox. The Hornets also receive the rights to DeVon Hardin, last season’s 50th overall pick in the NBA draft.
New Orleans were no doubt a better team when Chandler was on the floor. The Hornets were 10 games over .500 with Chandler in the lineup, and an even .500 without him.
Joe Smith is a 6’10”, 225 lb. center. The 13-year veteran is averaging 6.6 points and 4.5 rebounds per game this season.
Chris Wilcox is 6’10”, 235 lbs. Wilcox brings 8.4 PPG and 5.3 RPG to New Orleans this season.
The 13-40 Thunder has the third-worst record in NBA. They get 8.8 PPG and 8.3 RPG from Chandler.
