Historic Lafayette Building to be Torn Down

Tuesday, September 22, 2009 - 3:03pm

A downtown Lafayette landmark will be gone before the end of the year.

The old Federal Courthouse sits at the corner of East Main Street and Fefferson.

The building used to be Lafayette's main post office, but has been vacant for some time.

City officials say the building will be demolished to make way for new development.

They say the cost of the demolition will be between 500,000 and a million dollars.
