WATSON, LA (FOX44) — A woman was busted for allegedly shoplifting a pair of shorts that were the wrong size and then took the ill-fitted garment to another location to get the correct size.
The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that the incident occurred on Saturday, July 7 at The Glass Slipper located on LA Hwy 16 in Watson. According to officials, this was the second theft the woman had committed that same day.
Reports say the suspect, Kim Horn Lalumia, 47, first stole a pair of shorts from the Denham Springs location of The Glass Slipper. The shorts, however, did not fit. The suspect then went to the Watson location, found the same shorts in the correct size, and left behind the shorts that did not fit. The suspect then left the store without purchasing the item.
A witness noticed that a crime had been committed and managed to catch the license plate number of the suspect. A deputy with the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office spotted the vehicle a short time later and conducted a traffic stop.
During the stop the deputy is said to have located the missing shorts as well as a pair of earrings that were also allegedly stolen. The deputy also found drug paraphernalia and a small amount of marijuana.
“This case is a perfect example of the community and law enforcement working together as a team to solve crimes,” Sheriff Jason Ard, Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office, said.
Lalumia was arrested and charged with 2 counts of Misdemeanor Theft, 1 count of Simple Possession of Schedule 1 CDS (marijuana), 1 count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
The Denham Springs Police Department also issued Lalumia a summons for shoplifting.
Lalumia was released from the Livingston Parish Detention Center on a bond of $2,000.
