Today Marks The Start Of The Atlantic Hurricane Season

Friday, June 1, 2012 - 8:45pm

Today marks the start of the Atlantic hurricane season.

However that's just going by the calendar.

Mother nature did not wait till June the first.

She's already produced two pre-season tropical storms.

The latest tropical storm Beryl made landfall in Florida on Memorial day.

This was the strongest may storm to ever make landfall in the U.S.

This is a reminder to always be prepared.

NOAA forecasters are predicting nine to fifteen named storms this year.

Four to eight of these are expected to strengthen into hurricanes with three of these being major.

Hurricane season lasts through the end of November.
