LAFOURCHE PARISH, LA — A Thibodaux man is charged with stalking after allegedly calling a woman 42 times in a day in violation of a protective order then ramming a car in which she was riding, police said.
Lafourche sheriff's deputies said a woman spotted Daren Kitchen, 44, driving past her home Monday while she was with a male friend. He had called her house all day. The two left the house, and Kitchen followed them in his car. Kitchen allegedly accelerated and rammed his car into theirs.
The drivers lost control. Kitchen drove into a nearby ditch, while the other man and woman ended up on a resident's lawn. They drove away and called the Sheriff's Office.
Kitchen ran away and a passenger traveling with him was taken to a local hospital for treatment for injuries suffered during the crash, including a broken leg and arm.
Kitchen was arrested Thursday in Terrebonne Parish and was taken to the Lafourche jail., He is charged with 42 counts of violating protective orders, aggravated second-degree battery, aggravated criminal damage to property, hit-and-run and reckless operation. He was being held on a $295,000 bond.
