The Red Cross has launched an app to make sure you're ready in case a storm hits close to home called the Red Cross Hurricane App.

It has only been around for a few weeks but it's already been downloaded tens of thousands of times.

The app gives you real time information for any tropical weather threats in the Atlantic, Pacific, or Gulf Of Mexico.

There is also a list of features to let your loved ones in your social contacts know you are safe.

The app can also you give location based tropical weather information.
