The Mayor of Rayne has officially turned in his resignation letter.

Mayor Jimbo Petijean will stay in office till December 31st.

And on January first, he will start his new duties as assessor of Acadia Parish.

Voters will get to decide on Mayor Peti Jean's replacement  when they head to the polls in November.
