Firing back against allegations of corruption and pending lawsuits from his own officers, Lafayette Police Chief Jim Craft called a press conference today defending his department.
Craft discussed the ongoing federal lawsuit alleging corruption within the police department, racial discrimination, payroll fraud, crime statistic manipulation and harassment filed by a total of nine current and former Lafayette police officers.
Chief craft read from his written statements and was visibly upset with what he called false and inaccurate allegations.
Chief Craft says the judicial system will look at all the infomration fairly before acting on these allegations.
There's also been talk of whether an outside agency like the state police should come in to help with the overall investigation.
