Today  the new director of GOHSEP Kevin Davis says being prepared for hurricane season is critical.

The season hasn't officially started and there have already been two named storms in the Atlantic.

Davis says that means it's very important to make sure you're ready.

That includes being prepared with things like batteries and an am/fm radio.

GOHSEP says they're also going to each Parish in the state to update training for first responders.

Davis says sixteen thousand will be trained across the state.
