Fourteen Year Old Indian American Wins National Spelling Bee

 Guetapens was the word that got fourteen year-old SnigDha Nandipati the 2012 spelling bee crown!

 

The San Diego teen beat out eight other finalists to win the competition.

 

She is also the fifth Indian American in a row to win the bee.

 

Guetapens is a French word meaning ambush.
