Bounty Participants Receive Punishments

Two current and two former New Orleans Saints have been punished for their roles in the bounty program.

Of those singled out are Linebacker Jonathan Vilma who received the harshest punishment.

Vilma has been suspended without pay for the entire 2012 season.

The league says Vilma offered ten thousand dollars in cash to any player who knocked Kurt Warner or Brett Favre out of the 2009 playoffs.


Saints defensive end Will smith" is barred for four games.

Defensive Lineman Anthony Hargrove now with the Green Bay Packers is suspended for eight.

Linebacker Scott Fujita who is now with the Cleveland Browns will be sidelined for three .

All of the listed suspensions are without pay.

The league says all four players took part in the program that offered up cash to hurt opposing players.
