(CNN) — If there's anyone who can get John Travolta to make a rare return to TV, it's Kirstie Alley.
The 59-year-old actor has signed on for a guest role on his pal Alley's new TV Land comedy, she revealed on Twitter.
"John Travolta is gonna be on our new show KIRSTIE!!!!!! SOOO excited to work together again!!! We are gonna have a BALL!!," Alley tweeted Tuesday.
The sitcom, now simply called "Kirstie," stars Alley as a Broadway actress named Madison "Maddie" Banks who's adjusting to the sudden re-emergence of her adult son (Eric Petersen), whom she gave up for adoption when he was born.
Another one of Alley's former co-stars, "Cheers" actress Rhea Perlman, will play Maddie's assistant and best friend, while "Seinfeld's" Michael Richards will portray Maddie's driver.
Travolta, who previously played Alley's love interest in the "Look Who's Talking" movies, will guest star as a stagehand-turned-one-night-stand.
"I'm excited about working with Kirstie again, in addition to such terrific talent on the show," Travolta said in a statement. "It's always a treat to be surrounded by people you respect so much both personally and professionally."
His "Kirstie" appearance is scheduled to tape in early August, and is slated to air later on in the season following the comedy's December 4 premiere.
