Bossier firefighters will travel to make a wish come true for sick girl
BOSSIER CITY, LA — Members of Bossier City Firefighters Local 1051 will head north to Fouke, Arkansas this weekend to grant a special wish to a brave 11-year-old girl.
Rebecca Shelton suffers from a life threatening genetic condition and has always wanted a swimming pool. So thanks to the Kids Wish Network with the help of several Bossier City firefighters, Rebecca will get her wish and will be swimming in a new pool in a few days.
The Kids Wish Network, a non-profit organization dedicated to infusing hope, creating happy memories, and improving the quality of life for children with life threatening medical conditions, recently contacted Bossier City firefighters Kevin Bragg and Ashton Poole whose business B&P Dirt Works installs swimming pools and asked to help fulfill Rebecca’s wish. Not only did Kevin and Ashton immediately jump at the chance to help by volunteering to install a donated above ground pool for Rebecca, fellow Bossier City firefighters Mike Adams and Christian Burrus who operate the construction firm Acadian Concepts LLC made an unsolicited offered to help Rebecca by volunteering to build a deck and a wheel chair access ramp to go with her new pool.
The firefighters will be joined by several other members of Bossier City Firefighters Local 1051 and members of the Genoa, Arkansas Fire Department to make Rebecca’s wish come true on Sunday, Aug. 26, at Rebecca’s home.
