Known by most as the "Horse Farm", the 100 acres of property just off Johnston Street has been turned over to the Lafayette Consolidated Government. It was previously owned by the University of Louisiana.

Officials say they plan to turn the valuable property into a park. The property is currently being appraised to update the value for the exchange with the state, the city and mayor. It the land had once been appraised at roughly $5 million.
