
The deceased driver of the car has been identified as Joshua P. Landry, 21, of Lafayette. The passenger in the car remains in critical condition at a local hospital. The crash remains under investigation.
University and I-10 Fatality Claims One Life

On October 9, 2010, at approximately 2:15 am, Lafayette Police responded to a crash at the intersection of North University Avenue and the I-10 eastbound on ramp. Traffic investigators indicate that a tour bus was turning left onto the I-10 eastbound on-ramp from the southbound lane of North University, when a vehicle traveling northbound on North University crashed into the side of the bus. The driver of the vehicle, a 21 year old male, was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger in the vehicle, a 22 year old male, was transported to an area hospital and is listed in critical condition. There were no reported injuries on the bus.
The identity of the victim is being withheld pending the notification of the next of kin. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Lafayette Police Department Traffic Section.
