3 alleged purse thieves caught

On Wednesday at approximately 10:30 p.m., two 16-year-old female victims were walking near the entrance of a business in the 4400 block of Ambassador Caffery, when they were approached by three people. The persons were able to grab I-Phones and wallets from the victims hands and ran away. Immediately following the incident, the suspects were seen entering a vehicle in the parking lot of a nearby fast food restaurant and the vehicle began traveling east on Kaliste Saloom Road.

Responding officers pulled over the suspected vehicle and all three suspects were taken into custody. 19-year-old Kaylyn Alfred of Lafayette was arrested, charged with purse snatching and booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center. The 2 other suspects were identified as 16-year-old males of Lafayette. Both juveniles were booked into the Lafayette Parish Juvenile Detention Center and charged with purse snatching.

The victims were not injured during the incident.

The case remains under investigation.
