The $1.2 million dollar project was designed by UL's School of Architecture and the Community Design Workshop.
The two mile long path begins on Johnston Street near Blackham Coliseum and winds all the way to Eraste Landry Road.
Students and the general public in Acadiana can now ride their bikes, jog or walk safely!
" A lot of hard work from some faculty and students, and certainly professionals that were here today. And I think it just talks about how our university and our community can come together to do a project that is beneficial for the overall city," said Tom Sammons, UL Lafayette professor.
The second phase of the bike path will connect the existing path to the UL's campus and Girard Park area!
Construction on the second phase will begin this year.
