E-mail David News runs through this Lafayette native's blood. David D’Aquin grew up watching his grandfather, Richard D'Aquin's, incredible newspaper publishing career, and he's thrilled to be able to follow in his grandfather's footsteps. In 2008, David was the first Louisiana Television News Reporter to travel to Camp Taji, Iraq - just 20 miles north of Baghdad. He reported on Louisiana National Guard Soldiers in the 165th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion. David was honored for his reporting by the Louisiana National Guard. In June of 2008, he received The Louisiana Distinguished Civilian Service Medal for his reporting. Most recently, Chase Bank and Lafayette's The Daily Advertiser have recognized D'Aquin as one of the "Top 20 Under 40". It's an award designed to honor young professionals who've made significant impacts and touched lives in their communities. D'Aquin's broadcasting career started in radio more than a decade ago, when David was still in high school. Throughout the years, he's worked in just about every radio format. In 2001, David made the leap to television, where he reported and anchored weathercasts at KATC in Lafayette, and he's been going strong ever since. David attended college at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas, and received his Journalism Degree from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where he was honored as the outstanding graduate. An award-winning journalist, David has been honored for his work by the Associated Press, the Society of Professional Journalists, the William Randolph Hearst Foundation, and other organizations .David has covered just about every major story in Louisiana over the past ten years, including hurricanes, presidential visits, National Guard deployments, the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster, and the south Louisiana highway serial killer. David is excited to bring his knowledge and experience to FOX. David spends his free time volunteering with several non-profit organizations. He also enjoys reading, spending time with his family and friends, and being outside with his two cocker spaniels, Buddy and Radar. Most Popular |
